I just started getting into this rather prolific band. If you haven't heard of them, Melvins are a four-piece grunge/sludge act from Washington (no surprise there). They've been jamming since the late 80s and are still releasing new material. They cite Black Flag, Black Sabbath, Swans, and Flipper as influences, but they really have a pretty unique sound that can't really be fully defined. Bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden worshiped them. It's safe to say that Melvins had a strong influence on the whole grunge scene.
For this particular album, Cobain helped produce several tracks and even played some instruments on some of them. This is Melvins supposedly at their most accessible. That being said, it's still pretty strange.

I apologize for the rather long delay. It's been a while since anything has been uploaded...
To kick things off, here's stoner/doom metal band, Electric Wizard. This is probably their most acclaimed album. Expect heavy riffage and tons of Black Sabbath worship. The vocals could probably be better, but it's not that big of a deal. What it lacks in the vocals department, it makes up with sheer noise and heaviness. Best listened to with a nice pair of headphones or speakers, and probably after smoking a joint. This is stoner metal after all.

The Japanese cult favorites.... this is some pretty solid 60s/70s influenced stoner rock. You really should check out their discography even if you don't dig this. They cover a wide variety of genres including drone/punk/sludge/noise/experimental/psychedelic/ambient/etc. Really fantastic band. Get on this!
