New LA Adds: Delroy Edwards and .aura

Delroy Edwards - SLOWED DOWN FUNK VOL II: HATE IS BENEATH ME: A chopped and screwed beat tape from a producer known for lo-fi house and noise releases seems like it might be a mildly offensive novelty, and yeah, this kinda is. But it's also a really awesome set of cool tape hiss ghostly Southern hip hop beats. Original production blends with chopped and screwed 90's rap and R&B until you can't tell where one begins and the other ends. Makes me want to wear a black hoodie in the summer and drive around bumping vintage screw tapes and harassing the Row.

RIYL: DJ Screw, Spaceghostpurrp, Lil Ugly Mane

.aura - Feels: Real nice ambient release with some spacey pads and field recordings and whatnot. I studied Spanish to it last night- it's very very pretty.  It's got the whole college Instagram filter-y cover thing going on so you don't have to feel embarrassed about listening to new age music or whatever. Yay, my credibility! (Jokes aside, this album is actually very pretty).

RIYL: Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream

Recommended Track: "viewing the cosmos"

That's all from me. A reminder for the hot weather:
