March's DJ of the Month: Sophia Spirus
Spring is upon us, which means graduation season isn’t too far off. For March’s ~DJ of the Month~ meet graduating senior Sophia Spirus, host of The College Collage under the alias “The Empress.” 👑👑
Sophia majors in Narrative Studies with a minor in Comedy, but has dabbled in a bit of everything while at USC. She even had her Music Performance professor as a special guest on her show! 🎸
Outside of KXSC, Sophia is an assistant to the head of the Polymathic Academy 📚👩🏫 and is also an avid fan of theatre and Zumba. 🏃♀️💃
First song you played on your radio show: “The Temptations - My Girl” Best concert you’ve been to: “No Doubt at the Gibson Amphitheater in 2012.” Fun fact: “When I was 12, I saw Corinne Bailey Rae perform in DTLA. I drew a picture for her and handed it to a stage crew member to hopefully get it to her. The performance and interview was being recorded by KCRW, and when Corinne began her second set after the interview she said "This next song is for Sophia. She drew me a lovely picture and is out in the audience somewhere. This one's for her." and she played her hit "Put Your Records On". I was bawling!”
Tune in every Monday 3 pm PST and allow The Empress to impress you on The College Collage. 🎓🌟
