Drowsy from lying in summer sun,
warm twilight, wading in tall grass,
rosy lamp light thru open windows,
sweet smoke of sage curling into plumes.
Drumming along to hollowed sounds
of bare toes on wooden floorboards,
sand spilling from deep pockets.
Revolving til the needle finds a skip,
head cradled, lap of a lover,
closed lids, lips stained
red from cheap wine.
